Netagiri in India

In democracy Indian Neta’s are said to be the ‘servants of public’. But is that true in real life? Certainly NOT.

Five star Netas
The fact is that these ‘Gandhian clones’ do not serve us free of cost. Over and above their hefty salaries that can be revised upward at their own, these Netas get extra allowances for every small thing they do or claim to have done for public. They live a five star life. Their perks include free medical treatment at home and abroad in the best hospitals. They are provided free telephones, laptops, fully furnished accommodation in prime locations, house hold gadgets, chauffer driven cars with plenty of petrol, air and rail tickets for family, children, and attendants in the name of serving the public. As post retirement gift, besides hefty pension, most of them get residential plots almost free or at subsidized rates in prime locations. So they are not obliging us in any way.

To qualify for getting such fabulous perks there are no educational qualifications. There are no standards of physical fitness, experience, or any other credentials. Netas are paid much more as compared to highly educated lots of Engineers, Doctors, Managers and other professionals who earn their dues after years of hard work in competitive environment. At zero qualification, Netas can be appointed on high posts like ministers and governors in anticipation of being elected subsequently. Rahul Gandhi is being offered the post of Prime Minister of the country with zero experience. His father Rajiv Gandhi had hopped from pilot seat to Prime Minister!

Their work output of Netas is not audited. There are no attendance records at their work place. When Parliament and Legislatures discuss important matters concerning public, Netas can be seen missing from the place of work – Legislature.

The security of ordinary citizens is overlooked because bulk of the police is over worked ensuring security of Netas and their families. In addition, the investigating agencies remain busy in probing scams attributed to Netas. The Administration remains over occupied making ‘banobast’ for Netas whenever they organize bandhs, strikes, burning of public transports, rallies against rivals, and such like distructive activities.

Some of the universal traits of Indian Netas are that they are habitual late comers, everywhere and on every occasion.

They work on the sly to ensure that their own sons and daughters pick up the same position whenever they are forced to vacate on account of their illness, misdeeds, or death.

We must think

  • Why should we garland and wait for such people?
  • Why don’t we heck them to show their performance?
  • Why should they be allowed to name roads, development projects, and schemes after their names?
  • Why they should not undergo some qualifications and professional efficiency tests?

Personality Cult in Democracy

It is said that intelligent people discuss thoughts, mediocre events, and foolish personalities. In India, there are almost twelve birthdays and anniversaries when we watch our President, Prime Minister, and other VIP’s going round of ‘samadhis’ and ‘sthals’ of expired Netas during the year. Such occasions are rising with the passage of each day. One-day Delhi will turn out to be a big cemetery – a city of samadhis, and memorials for the dead Netas.

Since Nehru precedence was set to convert official residence of the deceased to his memorial. In addition, his survivors were allotted spacious bungalows in the capital. Memorials were set up over and above. Days are also being associated to politicians and celebrated at public expense such as ‘Children’s Day’, ‘Teacher’s Day’ and so on. Sports events are organized in the name of politicians who had no association whatsoever. Politicians preside over music and cultural functions, their knowledge about the subject being immaterial. They are seen laying foundation stones of projects, sports complexes, and giving sermons on every issue. Almost all government schemes are launched in the names of politicians which later they use as publicity during elections.

One would like to ask could we allot the same residential accommodation to the family of defence personnel who die at frontiers defending motherland. Should other professionals such as doctors, engineers, and government servants also be entitled to similar privileges for having served the country?

Same is the story about government schemes. Instead of having ‘theme names’ to indicate the scope and purpose of the scheme we have a long list of welfare schemes named after one political family as if those were financed by the family.

Stigmatic Politicians

The word politician in society has come to identify with mafia-men, scammers and self-seeker. We can overcome this personality cult syndrome

  • It would be worthwhile to hold sports events, and build sports complexes in the name of outstanding sports men in the field, or have educational institutes named after eminent educationists or scientists instead of politicians. Better, the institutions should be named after the activity it promotes such as Music University, or the place of its location like Nalanda University.
  • Public interest will be better served if roads are identifiable with extreme ends that it connects as Kanpur – Allahabad Highway.
  • In order to overcome the land scarcity we may raise memorials for politicians on the pattern of “Memorial of Unknown Soldiers” in major cities. The names of entitled politicians can be inscribed later as and when they deserve. Alternately, if the followers of some leader want to construct memorials they must bear the commercial cost of land, development and maintenance themselves. The burden should not be on the state exchequer at large. Otherwise, what will be the condition if states also start marking land for Chief Ministers and other politicians on the pattern of centre?

Political Dynasties

During general Elections we wish and hope for that all the political dynasties are waste up. We must get rid of the political Gandhies, Pawars, Badals, Chautalas, Mulayams, Laloos, Scindias, Abdullahs, Pilots, Muftis, Deve Gowdas, and Naidus.

Gandhi and Godse on Patriotic Scale

Except that Gandhi was assassinated on 30 January 1948 by Nathuram Godse, no other name is associated in Indian History with this date that it should be referred as Martyr’s day. Since partition of India we were being fed on the myth that Gandhi was the ‘Father of the Nation’, until the fact came to light last year that constitutionally and legally that was not true.

Is it not prudent for Indian youth to reassess our history and the contribution of significant personalities fairly and objectively?

Who is a martyr?

A martyr is a person who is put to sufferance including death for adherence to his faith and knowingly sacrifices his life for some cause. If any one died an accidental death he cannot be called a martyr.

Both Gandhi and Godse shared similarities and also certain dis-similarities. Whose ideology was better is a debatable subject and both have ample number of their opponents and supporters. Gandhi was not in favor of India’s partition so was Godse. Both wanted unity of India. While Gandhi kept saying that Pakistan could be created only on his dead body but he signed for partition of India. On the other hand Godse’s ashes are still waiting to be immersed in River Sindhu for the river to flows in united India.

By no way Godse was an ordinary criminal or Gandhi an extra-ordinary martyr. Godse was a staunch Hindu and he was pained to see the plight of Hindus in free India, and the way Gandhi was pressurizing the government to favor Muslims, and Pakistan at the cost of Hindu refugees.

On fateful day, when Gandhi came out of his Birla House residence to go for his prayer meeting he was not aware that Godse was waiting to shoot him. If that was known security men would not have let Gandhi die. Gandhi died suddenly. Mentally and physically he was not prepared to die on that day for country. On the contrary, Godse knew that by shooting Gandhi he would be hanged. He volunteered to shoot Gandhi for the reasons that he thought to be justifiable and opted to die for the cause that he thought was in the interest of his motherland. He did not flee after the shoot out and surrendered along with his loaded weapon.

For the offence of murder Godse was tried under the Indian Penal Code, convicted and hanged. Legal requirement was over. Politically Godse remains condemned. Is it not reasonable to review his role when day in and day out we have been granting pardon to several terrorists today?

Godse’s Statement

On 8 November 1948, Nathuram Godse rose to make his statement in court. Reading quietly from a typed manuscript, he sought to explain why he had killed Gandhi. His thesis covered ninety-pages, and he was on his feet for five hours. His statement, excerpted below, should be read by citizens and scholars in its entirely, for it provides an insight into his personality and his understanding of the concept of Indian nationhood.

“May it please your Honor”

“Born in a devotional Brahmin family, I instinctively came to revere Hindu religion, Hindu history and Hindu culture. I had, therefore, been intensely proud of Hinduism as a whole. Nevertheless as I grew up I developed a tendency to free thinking unfettered by any superstitious allegiance to any isms, political or religious. That is why I worked actively for the eradication of untouchability and the caste system based on birth alone. I openly joined anti-caste movements and maintained that all Hindus are of equal status as to rights, social and religious, and should be considered high or low on merit alone and not through the accident of birth in a particular caste or profession. I used publicly to take part in organized anti-caste dinners which thousands of Hindus, Brahmins, Vaishyas, Kshatriyas, Chamars and Bhangis participated. We broke the caste rules and dined in the company of each other.”

“I have read the speeches and writings of Dadabhai Naoroji, Vivekanand, Gokhale, Tilak, along with the books of ancient and modern history of India and some prominent countries like England, France, America and Russia. Moreover I studied the tenets of socialism and Marxism. But above all I studied very closely what Veer (brave) Savarkar and Gandhiji had written and spoken, as to my mind these two ideologies have contributed more to the molding of the thought and action of the Indian people during the last thirty years or so, than any other factor has done.”

“All this thinking and reading led me to believe that it was my first duty to serve Hindudom and Hindus both as a patriot and as a world citizen. To secure the freedom and to safeguard the just interests of some thirty crores (three hundred million) of Hindus would automatically constitute the freedom and well-being of all India, one fifth of the human race. This conviction led me naturally to devote myself to the Hindu Sanatanist ideology and programme, which alone, I came to believe, could win and preserve the National Independence of Hindustan, my Motherland, and enable her to render true service to humanity as well…

“…Since the year 1920, that is, after the demise of Lokmanya Tilak, Gandhi’s influence in the Congress first increased and then became supreme. His activities for public awakening were phenomenal in their intensity and were reinforced by the slogan of truth and non-violence, which he paraded ostentatiously before the country. No sensible or enlightened person could object to these slogans. In fact there is nothing new or original in them. They are implicit in every constitutional public movement. But it is nothing but a dream if you imagine the bulk of mankind is, or can ever become, capable of scrupulous adherence to these lofty principles in its normal life from day to day. In fact, honour, duty and love of one’s own kith and kin and country might often compel us to disregard non-violence and to use force. I could never conceive that an armed resistance to an aggression is unjust. I would consider it a religious and moral duty to resist and if possible, to overpower such an enemy by use of force. (In the Ramayana) Rama killed Ravana in a tumultuous fight and relieved Sita. (In the Mahabharata) Krishna killed Kansa to end his wickedness; and Arjuna had to fight and slay quite a number of his friends and relations, including the revered Bhishma, because the latter was on the side of the aggressor. It is my firm belief that in dubbing Rama, Krishna and Arjuna as guilty of violence, the Mahatma betrayed the total ignorance of the springs of human action. In more recent history, it was the heroic fight put up by Chhatrapati Shivaji that first checked and eventually destroyed the Muslim tyranny in India. It was absolutely essential for Shivaji to overpower and kill an aggressive Afzal Khan, failing which he would have lost his own life. In condemning history’s towering warriors like Shivaji, Rana Pratap and Guru Govind Singh as misguided patriots, Gandhi has merely exposed his self-conceit.”

“…He was, paradoxical, as it may appear a violent pacifist who brought untold calamities on the country in the name of truth and non-violence, while Rana Pratap, Shivaji and the Guru will remain enshrined in the hearts of their countrymen forever for the freedom they brought to them. The accumulating provocation of thirty-two years, culminating in his last pro-Muslim fast, at last goaded me to the conclusion that the existence of Gandhi should be brought to an end immediately. Gandhi had done very good work in South Africa to uphold the rights and well being of the Indian community there.”

“…But when he finally returned to India, he developed a subjective mentality under which he alone was to be the final judge of what was right or wrong. If the country wanted his leadership, it had to accept his infallibility; if it did not, he would stand aloof from the Congress and carry on in his own way. Against such an attitude there can be no halfway house. Either Congress had to surrender its will to his and had to be content with playing second fiddle to all his eccentricity, whimsicality, metaphysics and primitive vision, or it had to carry on without him. He alone was the judge of everyone and everything; he was the master brain guiding the Civil Disobedience movement; no other could know the technique of that movement. He alone knew when to begin it and when to withdraw it. The movement might succeed or fail, but that could make no difference to the Mahatma’s infallibility. ‘A Satyagrahi can never fail’ was his formula for his own infallibility and nobody except himself knew what a Satyagrahi is.”

“…Thus the Mahatma became the judge and the jury in his own case. These childish insanities and obstinacies, coupled with a most severe austerity of life, ceaseless work and lofty character made Gandhi formidable and irresistible. Many people thought that his policies were irrational, but they had either to withdraw from the Congress or place their intelligence at his feet to do with as he liked. In a position of such absolute irresponsibility, Gandhi was guilty of blunder after blunder, failure after failure, and disaster after disaster. Gandhi’s pro-Muslim policy is blatantly illustrated in his perverse attitude on the question of the national language of India.”

“…I is quite obvious that Hindi has the most prior claim to be accepted as the premier language. In the beginning of his career in India, Gandhi gave a great impetus to Hindi, but as he found that the Muslims did not like it, he became a champion of what is called Hindustani. Everybody in India knows that there is no language in India called Hindustani; it has no grammar; it has no vocabulary. It is a mere dialect; it is spoken, not written. It is a tongue and a crossbreed between Hindi and Urdu, and not even the Mahatma’s sophistry could make it popular. But in his desire to please the Muslims he insisted that Hindustani alone should be the national language of India. His blind followers, of course, supported him and the so-called hybrid language began to be used. The charm and the purity of the Hindi language were to be prostituted to please the Muslims. All his experiments were at the expense of the Hindus.”

“…From August 1946 onwards, the private armies of the Muslim League began a massacre of Hindus. The then Viceroy, Lord Wavell, though distressed at what was happening, would not use his powers under the Government of India Act of 1935 to prevent the rape, murder and arson. The Hindu blood began to flow from Bengal to Karachi with little retaliation by the Hindus. The Interim Government formed in September was sabotaged by its Muslim League members right from its inception, but the more they became disloyal and treasonable to the government of which they were a part, the greater was Gandhi’s infatuation for them.”

“…Lord Wavell had to resign as he could not bring about a settlement and was succeeded by Lord Mountbatten. King Stork followed King Log. The Congress, which had boasted of its nationalism and secularism, secretly accepted Pakistan literally at the point of the bayonet and abjectly surrendered to Jinnah. India was vivisected and one-third of the Indian Territory became foreign land to us from 15 August 1947. Lord Mountbatten came to be described in the Congress circles as the greatest Viceroy and Governor-General this country ever had.”

“…The official date for the handing over of power was fixed for June 30, 1948, but Mountbatten with his ruthless surgery gave us a gift of vivisected India ten months in advance. This is what Gandhi had achieved after thirty years of undisputed dictatorship and this is what the Congress party calls ‘freedom’ and ‘peaceful transfer of power’. The Hindu-Muslim unity bubble was finally burst and a theocratic state was established with the consent of Nehru and his crowd and they have called it ‘freedom won by them with sacrifice’ – whose sacrifice? When top leaders of Congress, with the consent of Gandhi, divided and tore the country – which we considered a deity of worship – my mind was filled with direful anger.”

“…One of the conditions imposed by Gandhi for his breaking of the fast related to the mosques in Delhi occupied by the Hindu refugees. But when Hindus in Pakistan were subjected to violent attacks he did not so much as utter a single word to protest and censure the Pakistan Government or the Muslims concerned. Gandhi was shrewd enough to know that while undertaking a fast unto death, had he imposed some conditions on the Muslims in Pakistan, there would have been found hardly any Muslims who could have shown some grief if the fast had ended in his death. It was for this reason that he purposely avoided imposing any conditions on the Muslims.”

“…He was fully aware from past experience that Jinnah was not at all perturbed or influenced by his fast and the Muslim League hardly attached any value to the inner voice of Gandhi. Gandhi is being referred to as the Father of the Nation. But if that is so, he has failed in his paternal duty inasmuch he has acted very treacherously to the nation by his consenting to the partitioning of it. I stoutly maintain that Gandhi has failed in his duty. He has proved to be the Father of Pakistan. His inner-voice, his spiritual power, his doctrine of non-violence of which so much is made of, all crumbled against Jinnah’s iron will and proved to be powerless.”

“Briefly speaking, I thought to myself and foresaw that I shall be totally ruined, and the only thing I could expect from the people would be nothing but hatred and that I shall have lost all my honor, even more valuable than my life, if I were to kill Gandhiji. But at the same time I thought that the Indian politics in the absence of Gandhiji would surely be practical, able to retaliate and would be powerful with the armed forces. No doubt, my own future would be totally ruined, but the nation would be saved from the inroads of Pakistan. People may even call me or dub me as devoid of any sense or foolish, but the nation would be free to follow the course founded on the reason, which I consider necessary for sound nation-building. After having fully considered the question, I took the final decision in the matter, but I did not speak about it to anyone whatsoever. I took courage in both my hands and I did fire the shots at Gandhiji on 30th January 1948, on the prayer-grounds in Birla House”… “…I do say that my shots were fired at the person whose policy and action had brought rack and ruin and destruction to millions of Hindus.”

“…There was no legal machinery by which such an offender could be brought to book and for this reason I fired those fatal shots. I bear no ill will towards anyone individually, but I do say that I had no respect for the present government owing to their policy, which was unfairly favorable towards the Muslims. But at the same time I could clearly see that the policy was entirely due to the presence of Gandhi.”

“I have to say with great regret that Prime Minister Nehru quite forgets that his preaching and deeds are at times at variance with each other when he talks about India as a secular state in season and out of season, because it is significant to note that Nehru has played a leading role in the theocratic state of Pakistan, and his job was made easier by Gandhi’s persistent policy of appeasement towards the Muslims… I now stand before the court to accept the full share of my responsibility for what I have done and the judge would, of course, pass against me such orders of sentence as may be considered proper. But I would like to add that I do not desire any mercy to be shown to me, nor do I wish that anyone should beg for mercy on my behalf.”

“My confidence about the moral side of my action has not been shaken even by the criticism leveled against it on all sides. I have no doubt that honest writers of history will weigh my act and find the true value thereof someday in future.”

Nathuram Godse was hanged a year later, on 15 November 1949; as per his last wishes, his family and followers have preserved his ashes for immersion in the Indus River of a re-united India

When killers of Indira Gandhi Beant Singh, Satwant Singh, and Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale were publicly honored and given the honors of martyrdom, Congress Government under Manmohan Singh did not utter a word. Why are Hindus shy of giving a martyr status to Godse who sacrificed his life for the cause of Hindus?

Bhagat Singh and his associates had shot British DSP Saunders although their real target was Michael Scott. Bhagat Singh was hanged for the killing. Similar was the charge against Godse. In both cases the shoot out was for an ideological clash. Both volunteered to face the consequence. Gandhi did not consider Bhagat Singh and his associates as martyrs but Bhagat Singh has been rightly given the status of a hero by the indebted nation.

For political reasons Congressmen have conferred the highest martyrdom to Gandhi. Why Nation has not cared to review the role of Godse objectively who also sacrificed his life for Motherland as Bhagat Singh did?

Communal Violence Bill

Even after accepting partition of India on communal grounds to fanatic Muslims, Congress leaders remained blind to realities and declared India to be a secular state. They promoted secularism among Hindus, but ushered minorities to remain aloof from the National main stream. Instead of forging equality and unity through one civil rule for all, they created fear in the minorities to suspect Hindus. Directly and indirectly they encouraged minorities to bargain additional privileges to preserve and promote seclusion in the name of religion, language, personal laws, and institutions. They were motivated to increase population and emerge as a distinct vote bank to support so called ‘secular’ Congressmen. Thus minorities have multiplied in population and are separate ethnic groups to influence the formation of Governments at the Centre and States. It is no exaggeration that at the slightest excuse they talk about another partition of the Country and seek support across the borders.

Terrorism targeted against Hindus has bled India since partition. Though stated to be in majority, Hindus are living under perpetual fear of communal violence against their person, society and culture. All this is due to anti- Hindu policy of appeasements followed by Congress leaders headed by one family whose antecedents are shrouded in mysterious controversies.

PCTV Bill 2011

To top it all, now a draconian bill has been drafted under the leadership of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi that is ready to be tabled in Parliament for approval. It is called Prevention of Communal and Targeted Violence Bill – 2011. If enacted, it will permanently divide Indian society in two communities. The Hindus will be called ‘Others’ (implying community) in the land of their origin. The second segment of Indian Nation will be called Minority community, who enslaved India centuries ago.

To begin with, minorities are identified as Muslims and Christians but more groups to their fold can be added such as Dalits, Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs or anyone if they wish to be detached from Hindus. In other words a time will come when Hindus will be outnumbered by minorities in India. Sonia Gandhi has already said that ‘India is not a Hindu country’ and her choice Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has said that ‘minorities have the first right over resources of the Country’. Their enthusiasm towards destruction of Hindu identities can be gauged from their thoughts and actions  regarding destruction of Rama Setu.

The Authors of this Bill

This ill-ominous bill has been the idea of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and a coterie close to her. It has been drafted by National Advisory Council (NAC), a nominated body having no constitutional status. The names of the principal members of the drafting and advisory committee are: Najmi Waziri, P.I.Jose, Teesta Setalvad, Farah Naqvi, Abusaleh Shariff, Asgar Ali Engineer, John Dayal, Justice Hosbet Suresh, Kamal Faruqui, Manzoor Alam, Maulana Niaz Farooqui, Ram Puniyani, Shabnam Hashmi, Sister Mary Scaria, Syed Shahabuddin, Aruna Roy, Anu Aga, Farah Naqvi, Harsh Mander, and Maja Daruwala. Almost all of them are Christians, Muslims or rabid anti-Hindu Leftists. From their past actions, most of them seem to have been born with an animus against the Hindu ethos.  They are notorious for their hate mongering proclivity against Hindus. It is relevant to say that Arvind Kejariwal, the founder of Aam Admi Party has also been a close associate of Aruna Roy.

The draconian Provisions at Glance

Exceptionally biased provisions of this Bill explained  in simple layman language reveal that this bill assumes that Hindus, the majority community of India, termed as  ‘Others’,  are the culprits and commit atrocities against ‘Groups’ of minority community such as Muslims and Christians. The consequences that flow are:-

  • This law is applicable only when the victim is a Muslim or a Christian, a member of minority group. If a case is registered against a Hindu, he has to prove his innocence. A Hindu victimized by communal violence cannot take any benefit. If a Hindu loses property, is humiliated or boycotted, this law would not apply.
  • During the trial, the court may issue orders to attach the property of the accused Hindu, but not the property of Muslim or Christian.
  • The victim belonging to minority only will be granted financial compensation within 30 days.
  • If any Hindu publishes, communicates, disseminates, broadcasts, and advertises by words, either spoken or written, news about communal violence he would be prosecuted for hate propaganda.
  • Under this bill, if a Muslim or a Christian complains against any Hindu leader or organization that his/her feelings have been offended, that person/organization would be hauled up.
  • Hindus would be prosecuted by ‘Communal Harmony Authority’ to be set up at the state and central levels. The ‘Communal Harmony Authority’ at the state and central levels shall have seven members each, of which four members, including chairman and deputy chairman, should be from the minority communities. Thus Hindus will always be in minority in this body.
  • All the crimes mentioned under his law are cognizable and non-bailable for the accused Hindus.
  • There will be no limitation of time. It means a ‘Minority’ can reopen all cases against Hindus, all past cases right from 1950 onwards.
  • A minority witness giving false statement before National authority CANNOT be prosecuted for giving FALSE evidence against a Hindu.

One sided Secularism with Anti Hindu mindset

It is relevant to mention that UPA Chairperson Sonia (Antonia Maino) Gandhi is a devout, professing Catholic.  She is of Italian origin and she is a naturalized citizen of India.  At marriage, she insisted that her husband Rajiv Gandhi convert to Christianity and that her children be raised as a Christian/Catholic.  Her son Rahul Gandhi (Raul Vinci) is reported to have told the American ambassador Timothy Roemer in 2009 that India is facing a greater terror threat from radical Hindu groups than from Muslim militant 5th columnists.  Both, Sonia and Rahul seem to suffer from an acute case of Hindu phobia; their mindset is unwavering in trying to suffocate and suppress Hindus legally in India.  The aim of this draconian bill is to achieve that goal. It is also interesting to note that Sonia Maino Gandhi’s advisors and ministers are almost all either Christians or Muslims.

Aimed to disintegrate Hindu Society

Although the stated purpose of the Bill is to address the question of communal violence in the country but the hidden aim is to communalize Indian polity, and create hatred against Hindus so that a vote bank of Muslims and Christians is strengthened for Congress wherein more groups could be added later as and when more Hindus detach themselves from their ancestral faith due to the draconian provisions of the bill and privileges made available to minorities consequent to implementation of this enactment. Naturally all minority institutions including Jamait-e-Ulema are forcing Congress for passing this bill. Congress wants this bill to win 2014 election with ‘Minority’ votes.

Why not to have Uniform Civil Code for all Indians?

Had the Government really been sincere to foster communal harmony; it must have passed Uniform Civil Code for all citizens. The distinction of minority community and majority community could have been automatically eroded.

Besides other repercussions, the passage of this draconian Bill can trigger a new wave of extortion by minority groups against the working and business class of Hindus. This will have colossal negative repercussions for the Indian economy. To avoid lifelong suffering, Hindus shall have no other option than to convert to minority faiths, or flee from India as refugees. Therefore the matter deserves to be taken seriously, understood and discussed to spread awareness.

This bill is downright dangerous for the unity and integrity of India. Hindus must scrutinize and examine the threat emanating from this bill. It is essential that we should wake up from the deep slumber, stop internal squabbles, learn to work in unison, and come up with a solid strategy to get rid of anti-Hindu UPA government. The noose is being tightened on Hindus. The survival of Hindus is at stake.  Our future generation will not forgive us if we just succumb under pressure and keep watching from sidelines as passive spectators.

Nostalgic Recall of Historic Migration

I was born at Dipalpur an ancient town prior to the days of King Anangpal, an ancestor of Prithvi Raj Chauhan. It was close to Harappa, the site of earliest civilization known to the world today. It was a Tahsil of District Sahiwal that had been named Montgomery by the British to honor Field Marshal Montgomery.

Dipalpur as seen by me in early childhood consisted of flat brick houses. It had straight and wide lanes. The main market with its road paved by bricks had three gates, one each on Northern, Eastern and Southern side. It had a Red brick temple assigned to Baba Laloo Jasrai of Hinglaj (Gujarat).  One Gurudwara was also situated on the out skirts of the town along a canal on its South – Western side. It was on called ‘Nankana Saheb’ because the site had been visited once by Guru Nanak himself. Tongas were the primary means of communication although few Lorries also plied at much lesser frequency.

My maternal grandparents lived at Chiplipur, a small village situated about two miles away from Dipalpur. Two Sikhs families dominated the village with farming as their family business. Some of the Sikh landlords in the village possessed 12 bore guns.

There were three or four Hindu families and many Muslims families who performed menial jobs or worked on the fields. Muslims and Hindus had separate wells for respective communities and there were two mosques in the village. 

I was a student of fourth standard at Primary School in Dipalpur. We were taught Urdu and Arithmetic only. Our class consisted of about 30 – 35 children belonging to Hindu and Muslim families.

I chanced to see Circus, and Ram Lila for the first time at Dipalpur. Rama holding bow, Krishna ‘Sudarshan Chakra’, and Guru Gobind Singh a Baaz on his arm always fascinated me. I had also read the tragic story of Veer Haqeeqat Rai, a teenager, beheaded for blasphemous utterances alleged against him. A picture showing his beheaded corpse with parents crying over it often attracted my thoughtful attention. Those days, to my astonishment some Muslim classmates used to pass indecent remarks against Rama and other Hindu Gods, that of course I did not understand.

The early Signs of Disturbance

In April 1947 I had traveled on horseback with my maternal uncle from Dipalpur to Chiplipur to spend summer vacations.

Suddenly, one day my Nani ji (Maternal Grandmother) took me to a secluded room where a cobra also lived. She opened the big boxes kept there, sorted out clothes, coins and other valuables and returned. Then suddenly one day after evening meals Mama Ji (Maternal Uncle) took Nani Ji and me to the one room hutment of one Miyan Ahmed Din, the local Maulvi. We were told to sleep inside and not to make any conversation.  Mama ji and Miyan Ahmed Din were good friends. They went away after locking the door from outside. Nani ji had kept awake whole night to comfort me with a hand-held fan, as it was warm inside.

In the morning we returned to our house. I saw a big hole in the peripheral wall. Later I learnt that on previous night Muslims had broke open many shops belonging to Hindus. Mama ji and others had kept vigil throughout the night by walking through deserted lanes. As he passed through his own house he suspected some intruders inside. He was single handed but was carrying his Chhavi (an Axe with long blade)on his shoulders. He challenged intruders and some persons ran out of the house. However, they took away a box from our house that contained valuables by jumping across the boundary wall. Thereafter the gap in the wall was plugged, and as precausion boundary wall was raised further with mud bricks and thorny branches. 

Village Defence 

A few days later we moved within the brick mansion located in the centre of the village. It was feared that armed Muslim mobs from nearby villages would come to rob Chiplipur as they had been causing bloodshed in neighboring villages.

On hearing drumbeats a strange routine was repeated on three or four occasions. All children and ladies used to be closeted in a big hall on first floor. Granth Sahib was recited. One or two young ladies used to stand guard holding naked swords. In between the recitation they would chant ‘Sat Shri Akal’ ask the gathering to be prepared to sacrifice head in preference to religion. The male folks would gather on the rooftops holding swords, spears, Laathis and guns in hands.

On such occasions, Mama ji had been taking the village representatives to some Khokhar, whom he personally knew. Khokhar had considerable influence on Muslim population and he lived in a nearby village. Every time Khokhar intervened and the mobs primarily gathered to loot retreated without causing any harm to the village. At night we used to sleep on the rooftops. One night I got my forearm burnt by accidentally coming in contact with hot chilam of my Nana ji’s (Maternal Grandfather) Hookah.

First Experience with Commotion

One day, I chanced to see through the window, that a mob of about hundred Muslims was entering our village from the Northern side. They were beating drums, perhaps to attract more persons to join, and were carrying axes, spears, swords and sticks. A commotion followed and all male persons in our complex stood guard on the rooftops carrying whatever weapons of self-defense they had. My Nana Ji, who was around 60 years or so, also carried a gupti (a straight sword hidden in umbrella stick). 

Further from the roof-top I saw a Maulvi (priest) addressing the mob in the mosque behind our mansion. There was commotion and tension of possible bloodshed all around and nobody knew what could happen. However perhaps Khokhar was contacted again and the mob dispersed. So far the village folks had been requesting Khokhar to safely escort them to Sulemanke Head works on river Sutlej near Fazilka – the border of India and Pakistan. At that time we knew only by names of ‘Hindu part’ and ‘Muslim part’.

Agony of Elderly Persons

Though the attackers had returned, but on the next evening, suddenly I noticed that all the Sikhs had cut their hair and most of them were bitterly crying in the mansion. I came to know that all the Sikh males had been converted to Islam under threat of life from Muslims the previous night. Their hair was shaved in the mosque; they were made to recite Kalma to initiate them to Islam by the Maulvi.  They had been given Muslim names and made to eat beef for which a cow had been slaughtered in the premises of the mosque.   My Nana ji, Mama ji, and myself were the only three male persons from the village who had been spared from this humiliation as we were Brahmins and still held in esteem even by Muslims of the village.

Insult to Injury

Perhaps a day after that incident, one morning the Muslim women accompanied by some males flocked to draw water from the well that was adjacent to our house, and was exclusive for Hindus.  It was primarily aimed to add insult to the injury. Mama Ji became furious and asserted that only those Muslim women would be allowed to draw water from the well who could recite the Kalma to him. He asserted that Hindu village folk had converted to Islam but they had not turned sweepers or urchins to live an unhygienic life. Thus for hygienic reasons the well still remained closed to those who were not pious and clean Muslims. The Muslims thereafter withdrew. The persistence of associations had still continued to play positive role as for as mutual respect between the known’s.

We left our Homes

We had been sorting household items at our home in quite.  I learnt later that Mama ji had got some gold converted into sheets and got them nailed in-betweens the sole of his shoes to avoid theft, robbery or other such eventualities.

All of a sudden, on one afternoon nearby Muslim women entered our house for lifting household articles. I realized it when one of them lifted my colorful pihri (a stool having knitted seat supported on short legs) that was for my exclusive use. I protested but was persuaded by Nana – Nani to let the same be taken away. Soon after, our household was packed up and we again assembled in the mansion; where men and women were crying, sobbing, and packing their household. Some of the Muslim females, who worked on menial jobs in fields also came there and cried in sympathy. Most of them were apologetic for what had happened and sought pardon.

At this juncture I came to know that Military had arrived, and Muslim males had hid in the fields out of fear. By evening all of us were out in the village. I saw all the families moving towards the canal that flowed on the northern side of the village about half a kilometer away. There household was either on bullock carts or was being carried on their person. Everyone talked to him-self, seemed to be in hurry, astonished, aghast, and broken. I too, walked with Nana, Nani while Mama ji was going up and down, probably meeting Muslim friends to coordinate exodus. Walking towards unknown destination, for the last time, I passed through the deohri (main village gate) and Dera, where the village headmen had relaxed all their life. All I knew, that we were moving to Dipalpur to go to Hindustan.

Scenes of Cruelity 

When we reached canal and were moving along its embankment, I saw two headless naked bodies floating in the canal a little distance apart from each other. One was floating in the mid-stream, while the other of a woman had got tucked to the weeds near the bank. The bodies had decomposed. After that sight darkness had set in. One military person considering the age and perhaps fatigue on the face of Nani ji requested her to board the military truck, which she politely declined. She walked the entire distance of six miles to Dipalpur while I was put on the over-loaded bullock cart after darkness. We had travelled along the road and I overheard from elders that several beheaded corpses were floating in the canal.

We reached Dipalpur at midnight and slept on ground in the open compound of Middle School. Mama ji had found that my parents and other Hindu families had already moved out of Dipalpur ahead of us, but their whereabouts were not known. Military persons, perhaps an infantry section consisted of eight to ten persons under a Naik had been escorting us. They were in a truck. To instill a feeling of security they occupied position on top of the school building and had sited one light machine gun on top of the building.

Next day, I saw many of the household items being off-loaded in the compound. Since we had brought the luggage on bullock cart belonging to Muslims it was to return to Chiplipur. Hurriedly, Mama Ji and some others pooled some money, and the cart along with oxen was purchased from the Muslims owners. Thus; only few select items of the three families were reloaded and most of the load was discarded. We had fed on the food that had been prepared in advance at Chiplipur and it mainly consisted of Missi roties and Kasaar, a sweatend fried wheat grind. 

Sight of Migration

By afternoon we joined a Kaafila (flock of migrants) moving from nearby surrounding town Okara. By evening we crossed through the streets Haveli, where some of our relatives had been residing, but had moved to Fazilka well in time. It looked deserted, and some armed Muslims from their rooftops were staring at us with mixed feelings of astonishment and greed for loot and kill. Our Kaafila halted on the road after moving some distance form Haveli. The Military persons and some armed migrants kept vigil during night against possible attack from Muslims. I slept on the stacked luggage of bullock cart, along with some other children. Rest everyone was on ground. 

Next day, by chance, we came in contact with my elder brother, who had taken premature release form the army after seeing action during World War II in South East Asian Theater. Only during the previous year, we had celebrated his marriage at Dipalpur, and he had taken up a job at Okara. Thus, from Okara to Fazilka my brother was transporting his wife in advanced stage of pregnancy on the carrier of his Releigh bicycle, which he pulled single handedly on foot. His widowed mother in law also accompanied and the trio did not have any substantial baggage  other than the clothes on their bodies.

Crossing over to India

By next day noon, we crossed the Sutlej River. The river was in spate and the current was very fast. Later I learnt that an aged mother of some acquaintances was swept by the current in the presence of her grown up sons without any effort on the part of the sons to rescue her. I could not understand why human relationships had taken a nosedive when individual survival was at stake. 

We halted in a grove for food and rest. The bullock carts were unloaded. Some of our relatives who had moved with earlier caravans and were sheltered in refugee camps set up around Fazilka spotted us. Many other migrants were also searching for their scattered ones. We too were able to locate more relatives near the resting place. They also narrated their version of distress and misery. As some of them did not possess even utensils, Nani ji distributed some of the utensils to each of them from whatever we had carried for us. There, for the first time we learnt that my parental family had traveled with distress to India along an earlier Kaafila from Dipalpur and they could be located in or around Ferozepur. All of us received a handful of roasted gram for food distributed by volunteers performing reception and rehabilitation duties. It was here that for the first time I heard that one Jawaharlal was the ‘king’ of Hindus and Jinnah was the ‘king’ of Muslims. 

Loss of Identities

By evening we managed to board some overcrowded motor transport and headed for Ferozepur with hope to unite with my parental family. My elder brother had to stay with some relatives at Fazilka since a son was born to his wife soon after reaching free India. From the date of birth of his son I can now calculate that perhaps we had crossed to India on 20 August 1947 and had left our home at Chiplipur forever on 17 August 1947.

We reached Ferozepur at night and stayed in a deserted house.  A brother of my Nani ji met us by chance and we shifted to another house for few days trying to locate our separated ones; till one day; my father arrived from Jalandhar as a pleasant surprise searching us. We narrated the account of migration of the family and we had a sigh of relief that everyone was safe at Jalandhar. He had no information about the whereabouts of my other elder brother, who was then serving in the Air Force. 

Re-union with family

My father insisted that we should move and settle at Jalandhar. There was heavy rush on trains, buses, or any other means of communications. Finally, one day we found space in open wagon of a goods train to take us to Jalandhar. At Firozepur station, I saw a train over-packed with Muslim refugees being dispatched to Pakistan. One separated Muslim woman who was trying to escape assault upon her was overrun by the engine of our goods train. A glass of water was being sold for 20 rupees by some persons at Firozepur station. Finally we reached Jalandhar and were united with the family.

Nostalgia of the past 

After three decades I happened to visit Abhohar as an Air Defense Artillery Officer for some Military duty. After finishing my task, I drove to Fazilka and went to Sulemanke head works situated on the home bank of River Sutlej to get a peep of Pakistan. I could see nothing on the far bank. But the places where I had spent my early childhood lay at a distance of few hours where I stood. I was unable to step there again. It had faded into history. The nostalgic memories shall also fade away with the passing of our generation and perhaps the future generation would not be able to gauge the experience of turmoil we underwent and what we had lost to gain freedom. It is not the account of sufferings of one particular family; many others had suffered much worse.

BJP should go alone!

Coalition governance has led to non-governance in the country. It is still fresh that most of the time Vajpayee’s government remained busy in keeping its allies together through ministerial berths, revoking professed policies or deferring action that was much-needed in the national interest. Finally it was just one vote that led to the collapse of the government leading to midterm poll.

Same is the story of Congress. There is a Majboor Prime Minister blaming his allies for Government scams to profess his personal cleanliness. On the other hand UPA government continues to be frequently impeded by allies. Its survival depends upon those who are accused of neck-deep corruption. They are supporting a puppet Prime Minister simply to enjoy the fruit of Governance and to scuttle the ongoing proceedings against their corrupt deeds.

Hopefully voters will see through the opportunist game of such discredited politicians and reject them at 2014 polls so that country gets rid of political menace of their breed. But it can also be foreseen that after the polls some of those worthless lots will manage to win. They will swap sides with Congress as well as BJP to hop into government to reap the benefits. BJP always remains isolated since vested interests and cover of pseudo secularism provide more option to the opportunists to side with Congress to keep majority community out of power in India. 

The situation remains to be dim. Democracy is turning out to be a costly luxury for the taxpayers. Politics has become the past time of certain families and vested groups who frequently regroup under various pretexts to grab political power. Many of our so-called leaders are the creations of media and sponsored by Mafia. Most of them are dissidents for some personal grudges and lead self-created factions based upon caste and region. Switching parties is their survival.

The governments formed by BJP alone in the states have been performing well, but wherever BJP is in alliance with others stability is threatened. The alliance partners have no national outlook or interest except to promote their own self at the cost of the BJP. They continue threats to switch alliance for better gains at the opportune time.

To appease its minority vote bank, JD (U) has also started flexing muscles to project Nitish Kumar as potential PM. JD (U) cannot risk sacrificing its government in Bihar. Even if RJD, LJSP, SP, Congress or someone else temporarily rescued their government in Bihar, such arrangement will not be lasting. In contrast, BJP at her own will get its own share of votes and do better by contesting all the seats in Bihar to form a government of its own.

It is certain that JD (U) will not let BJP follow her own nationalist agenda. Similarly, minorities shall never vote for BJP. Unless NDA allies support uniform civil code and abrogation of Article 370 and are in unison with like issues categorically, any alliance with them shall be opportunist merely to form a lame government. The perception that BJP represents the majority community and is committed to safeguarding nationalistic interests, gets eclipsed when BJP is handicapped to implement her own agenda because of the uncommitted allies.

The pro secular outbursts of JD (U) leaders against are not acceptable. Why do Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav think that Hindus have no rights in this country for safeguarding their interest and we have to continue pleasing minorities at every cost? Minorities have already alienated BJP due to misguided propaganda,  such ‘allies’ will alienate from BJP’s traditional vote bank. They shall not let BJP emerge as a nationalist force.

Formation of Electoral Alliances for 2014 is already underway. Provincial parties will find BJP a willing partner for easy piggy-back ride to power. Similar allurement will find BJP also attracted towards provincial alliances where BJP organization is week or non-existing. If that happened India will again be saddled with non functional coalition government.

Thus better go alone with confidence, committment and determination.

राष्ट्रीय भावनाओं की अनदेखी क्यों ?

भारत के स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम में जिन गीतों ने राष्ट्रभावनाओं को जगाया था उन में मुख्य थे ‘पगडी सम्भाल जट्टा’, ‘ छई’, ‘मेरा रंग दे बसन्ती चोला’, ‘सरफरोशी की तमन्ना अब हमारे दिल में है’, ‘कदम कदम बढाये जा खुशी के गीत गाये जा’, ‘सारे जहाँ से अच्छा हिन्दोस्तां हमारा’ और ‘वन्दे मात्रम’। इन गीतों में ‘जन गण मन अधिनायक जय है’ का कोई योग्दान नहीं था।

ईस्ट इण्डिया कम्पनी और उस के पश्चात के ब्रिटिश गवर्नमेन्ट के शासन में 1911 तक अंग्रेजों की राजधानी कलकत्ता में रही थी। 1857 की क्रान्ति के पश्चात आधुनिकी करण के नाम पर अंग्रेजों ने कुछ औपचारिक सुधार भी किये थे जिन का मूल उद्देष्य उपनेष्वादी तन्त्र को मजबूत करना था। लिखित कानून लागू कर के अंग्रेजों ने कचहरियों तथा न्यायालयों की स्थापना की गयी थी। कलक्त्ता में अंग्रेजों को हिन्दी सिखाने के लिये  ऐक फोर्ट विलियम नाम का कालेज खोला गया था  जिन में प्राध्यापकों के रूप में राजा शिव प्रसाद सितारे हिन्द, सदल मिश्र, लल्लू लाल और इंशा अल्ला खां जैसे हिन्दी के गद्य लेखकों को रखा गया था। आगे चल कर हिन्दी की खडी बोली का विकास भारतेन्दु हरिश्चन्द्र तथा आचार्य महावीर प्रसाद दिवेदी के सौजन्य से आरम्भ हुआ था । उस समय अंग्रेज़ हिन्दी को रोमन लिपी में ही लिखते और पढते थे। हिन्दुस्तान में अंग्रेजी साम्राज्य के लिये कलर्क तैय्यार करने के लिये मैकाले शिक्षा पद्धति शुरु की गयी थी जिस का मुख्य  

उद्देष्य हिन्दुस्तानियों के मन में उन की अपनी संस्कृति के प्रति नकारात्मिक तथा अंग्रेजी संस्कृति के प्रति आकर्षण पैदा करना था।

ऐक अंग्रेज ऐ ओ ह्यूम ने मैकाले पद्धति से पढे लिखे हिन्दुस्तानियों के मन बहलावे के लिये ऐक नया अर्ध राजनैतिक संगठन काँग्रेस के नाम से आरम्भ किया था जिस का मुख्य उद्देश्य मामूली पढ लिखे भारतियों को सरकारी तन्त्र का हिस्सा बन कर जन साधारण का प्रतिनिधत्वभ करने से दूर रखना था ताकि वह अपनी राजनैतिक आकाँक्षाओं की पूर्ति अंग्रेजी खिलोनों से कर के संतुष्ट रहैं। अंग्रेजों के संरक्षण में बने इस राजनैतिक संगठन से उन्हें कोई भय नहीं था। उसी काल में कलकत्ता का ऐक टैगोर (ठाकुर) परिवार अंग्रेजों के काफी नजदीक हुआ करता था जिस के बहुत से लोग ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी के लिए काम किया करते थे। उन में मुख्य थे अवनींद्र नाथ टैगोर तथा उन के छोटे भाई  रविन्द्र नाथ टैगोर।

कलकत्ता के बदले दिल्ली को राजधानी बनाने के कई राजनैतिक कारण थे परन्तु जब 1911 में दिल्ली को राजधानी बनाया गया तो इंग्लैंड का राजा जार्ज पंचम अपनी कालोनी को देखने के लिये हिन्दुस्तान आया था। उन दिनों पंडित मोतीलाल नेहरू इलाहबाद के प्रमुख वकील थे और अंग्रेजी रंग ढंग से ही रहते थे। उन्हे जार्ज पंचम के लिये गठित स्वागत स्मिति में चुना गया था। 

मोतीलाल नेहरू ने रविंद्रनाथ टैगोर से जार्ज पंचम के स्वागत के लिये ऐक गीत लिखवाया था जिस का उद्देश विदेशी सम्राट (ऐम्परर जोर्ज पंचम) के प्रति हिन्दुस्तानियों को अपनी कृतज्ञ्यता व्यक्त करते हुये उस के आलौकिक गुणों का बखान कर के अपने शासक के प्रति आभार प्रगट कर के उस का स्वागत करना था। अतः रविन्द्र नाथ टैगोर ने जो गीत लिखा उसके बोल थे “जन गण मन अधिनायक जय हे भारत भाग्य विधाता”। उस गीत के पाँच पद्य थे जिन में अंग्रेजी सम्राट जोर्ज पंचम और अंग्रेजी साम्राज्य का गुणगान है। गीत के प्रथम पद्य का अर्थ कुछ इस प्रकार हैः-  

“भारत के नागरिक, भारत की जनता अपने मन से आपको भारत का भाग्य विधाता समझती है और मानती है। हे अधिनायक तुम्ही भारत के भाग्य विधाता हो। तुम्हारी जय हो ! जय हो ! जय हो! तुम्हारे भारत आने से सभी प्रान्त पंजाब, सिंध, गुजरात, मराठा (महाराष्ट्र), द्रविड़ (दक्षिण भारत), उत्कल (उड़ीसा), बंग (बंगाल) तथा विन्ध्य (सेन्ट्रल इडिया का कुछ भाग) हिमाचल (उत्तर के कुछ पहाडी क्षेत्र जैसे शिमला आदि) और यमुना और गंगा नदियों के बीच का भाग – ये सभी हर्षित है, खुश है, प्रसन्न है , तुम्हारा नाम लेकर ही हम जागते है और तुम्हारे नाम का आशीर्वाद चाहते है। तुम्हारी ही हम गाथा गाते है। हे भारत के भाग्य विधाता तुम्हारी जय हो जय हो जय हो। “

दिल्ली का नाम न्यू डेल्ही रखा गया था और सम्राट के स्वागत के लिये ईंडिया गेट बनाया गया था। स्वागत समारोह में “जन गण मन अधिनायक जय है ” गाया गया था जिसे सुन कर ब्रिटिश सम्राट का स्वयं पर गर्वित होना स्वाभाविक था।

यह ऐक उल्लेखनीय तथ्य है कि स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम के समय क्रान्तिकारियों का लोकप्रिय गान बंकिमचन्द्र चैटरजी रचित वन्दे मात्रम था जो उन के क्रान्तिकारी उपन्यास आनन्द मठ का गान है। काँग्रेस में कालान्तर ऐक गर्म दल और ऐक नर्म दल के नाम के दो गुट बन चुके थे। गर्मदल के प्रमुख नेता बाल गंगाधर तिलक थे जिन के सहयोगियों का रवैया अंग्रेजों के प्रति कठोर था। उन्हें अंग्रेजी यातनायें भी सहनी पडीं थी। वह वन्दे मात्रम का गान करते थे। उन की तुलना में  ऐक नर्म दल भी था जिस के जाने पहचाने नेता गोपाल कृष्ण गोखले और मोती लाल नेहरू आदि थे।  इसी नर्म दल के कुछ गिनेचुने काँग्रेसी वन्देमात्रम के बदले स्वागत गीत को गाना सुरक्षित समझ कर गाते रहते थे।

बटवारे के पश्चात संविधान सभा की बहस चली। संविधान सभा के 319 में से 318 सांसद ऐसे थे जिन्होंने बंकिम बाबु द्वारा लिखित वन्देमातरम को राष्ट्र गान स्वीकार करने पर सहमति जताई। लेकिन जवाहरलाल नेहरू के मन में कुछ और ही था और उन्हों ने इसमें भी राजनीति कर डाली।

उन्हों ने पहले तो अपने अभिभावक मोहनदास कर्मचन्द गांधी को राष्ट्रपिता मनोनीत किया। फिर नेहरु जी को चिन्ता लगी कि अंग्रेजों के राष्ट्रगीत “लांग लिव दि किंग” की तरह का ही एक राष्ट्रगान भारत के लिये भी होना चाहिये। बस नेहरू जी ने वन्दे मात्रम के बदले बिना जनता की सहमति लिये स्वागत गीत ‘जन गण मन अधिनायक जय है ’ को राष्ट्रगीत घोषित करवा दिया। अपने आप को धर्म निर्पेक्ष प्रचारित करने के लिये नेहरू जी ने मुसलमानों की नाराज़गी का बहाना तराशा और फिर उसे काँग्रेसियों के माध्यम से फैलाया।

दोनो गीतों में अन्तर यह है कि जहाँ वन्देमात्रम् स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम में स्वतन्त्रता सैनानियों को प्रेरित करता रहा था वहीं ‘जन गण मन’ मौलिक तौर पर ऐक स्वाग्त गीत था। इस गान में केवल उन्हीं प्रदेशों के नाम है जो सन् 1911 में इंगलैन्ड के सम्राट के ग़ुलाम थे। आज़ादी के इकसठ वर्ष बाद भी इस राष्ट्रगान का अर्थ कितने भारतीय समझते हैं यह आप स्वयं अपने ही दिल से पूछ लीजिये।

नेहरु जी ने वन्दे मात्रम को इस बहाने से भी अस्वीकृत किया था कि उस की धुन मिलिट्री बैंड  की मार्चिंग बीट (लय) पर नहीं बजायी जा सकती। उन के उस कथन को  ऐक मुस्लिम, परन्तु सच्चे धर्म निर्पेक्ष महान संगीतकार नौशाद ने नेहरु के जीवन काल में ही गल्त साबित कर दिखाया था। फिल्म लीडर के क्रेडिट टाईटल्स में वन्दे मात्रम की धुन नौशाद साहब ने मार्चिंग बीट पर ही आधारित करी थी जिस में प्रथम पद गाने के पश्चात आरकेस्ट्रा वही संगीत बजाता रहता है।

बटवारे के छः दशक बाद भी भारत में रहने वाले मुस्लिम वन्देमात्रम को गाने में आपत्ति करते हैं और कांग्रेस की सरकार वोटबैंक राजनीति के कारण इस क्रान्तियुग के प्रेरणादायक राष्ट्रगान को उचित सम्मान नहीं दिलवा पाई है। हम बिना अर्थ समझे जन गण मन को गाते चले जा रहै हैं जो राष्ट्र भावनाओं का प्रगटी करण नहीं करता।

हिन्दू भावनाओं की अनदेखी तो काँग्रेस हमेशा करती ही रही है परन्तु सोचने की बात है अगर मुस्लिम कट्टरवादियों की तरह हिन्दू भी स्वागत गीत ‘जन गण मन’ का विरोध करना शुरु कर दे तो क्या होगा?

Let us disinfect our Politics

Elections in UP, Himachal, Punjab, Uttrakhand and some other states are due early next year. Thus we can hear beatles, frogs and hissing of reptiles in the environment to  indicate political environment.

Party swapping is the most favorite activity of our politicians. They come out like cockroaches from gutters, whenever elections are around. In the guise of secularism, they form new electoral alliance to grab power. The most common element they share is being anti Hindu under the excuse of secularism and above all self-preservation. They are open to compromise on every thing for the sake of power. They remain busy cutting each others’ roots and can be willing to support each other for clinging to power.

From who is who in our politics, one has to identify who is the worse of the any two being compared.

  • Mulayam Singh Yadav was a wrestler but turned politician. He aspires Prime Minister Ship, but is short-sighted and canot look beyond UP politics. His war cry is “Hulla Bol” and that sums up his personality, competence, and style of functioning. He has founded several political parties and groups within political parties and claims to be the patriarch of Muslims and Yadav clan together. Given an option, he will like to be a two in one – Prime minister of India and Chief Minister of UP simultaneously! He is backwardness personified. Though he observed a token protest outside the Parliament against corruption, but has been pledging his all out support to UPA Government in case the opposition tried to dislodge the Government on the issue of corruption. He is hopeful that the cases of corruption and disproportionate assets pending against him would be overlooked in return.
  • Laloo Prasad Yadav is a political jester, on the foot steps of his like –  Late Raj Narayan.  Involvement in scams and a large family have been his most talked about political credential. His rustic and obnoxious mannerisms are enough to keep him in focus in media. He is a living example of abrasiveness, obstinacy and nepotism in public, without remorse. Except for fair complexion there is no difference in his attributes when compared with Mulayam Singh Yadav.
  • HD Devegowda chanced to be prime minister once upon time just by stroke of luck. That made him over-estimate his potential and he started viewing him to be suitable for the post of Prime Minister in every season. Though he has spent his political life in engineering defections and party splitting, his departure or return to politics does not make any impact anywhere. Except his body mass, there is nothing to signify his political existence. His reliability and out-put are Zero.
  • IK Gujral was kicked out from Congress by late Sanjay Gandhi during seventies of the past century. He is a loner in political crowd and cannot enter any elected institution through general election. By default he also occupied the chair of Prime Minister, but he remained a piece of political dead-wood throughout. Still he is on look out for crèches to walk on political ground. His contribution was zero although he invented some Gujral Doctrine yet to be deciphered.
  • Sharad Pawar does not need words to describe him. His face is his index and reliability is zero. He is licking his political wounds inflicted by Sonia Gandhi when she kicked him out of Congress with Lock – stock and barrel. He wags his head whenever Sonia smiles at his deeds. Looking at him one is likely to exclaim the greatness of God and His Justice.
  • Ram Vilas Paswan was a product of emergency. He considers himself to be a messiah for Dalits and big brother for Muslims. He continues nourishing his vote bank through soaps to reach the office of Prime Minister. His priorities are to remain in power, and also in the news. He is ahead of others to leave sinking ships in politics whenever the time comes. He is a fork- tounged politicians who can hiss different messages in India and abroad. 
  • N Chandrababu Naidu is like Macbeth in Indian politics. He revolted against his father in law, usurped his political outfit and legacy. He emerged king-maker during coalition politics, but now he is trying hard to  re-anchor himself in Andhra Pradesh only. Though he heads a regional party, he collaborates globally and swears by secularism to appease his Hyderabadi Muslim vote bank. He is an expert in changing sides and can go to any extent in pursuit of his ambition. Of all the opportunist leaders he supports an Ionian image of obsolete hardware.
  • M Karunanidhi & J Jayalalitha, are toggle switches in power politics of Tamil Nadu. While one is up to rule, the other is down. Both have been acting as political gang lords for many decades and share many similarities in their attributes and styles of functioning. Both continue trading charges of corruption against each and get away. Both remain poles apart, and change sides almost in rotation without remorse and principles. Either of them is always ready to support the party in power at the Centre provided pounds of flesh are offered in return.
  • Abdullahs, inherited chief Minister ship of Jammu and Kashmir from their fore father even in twentieth century. Their generations align with the political party ruling at Delhi and remain critical of the central government even at international forums, to project themselves as autonomous rulers. They regard the state of Jammu and Kashmir as family fiefdom. No one is to question their secular or national credentials since the family has been enjoying political immunity under article 370 with the blessings of Jawaharlal Nehru.
  • Ajit Singh  stepped into the shoes of his father in letter and spirit. He has been  following the footsteps of Chowdhary Charan Singh, who was himself a veteran defector. He can be found aligning with any cause, party, or an individual, as long as he can be assured of Cabinet berth. He has mastered the art of political survival and bargaining. He projects himself to be the only savior of farmers. He has life long desire to have a new state Harit Pradesh  carved out of UP with Baghpat as its capital.
  • Mamta Banerjee used to roar on streets and shriek in Parliament like a mauled West Bengal tigress but actually she is not more than a cornered cat all the time purring at everyone who closed on to her.  She had her following in assorted leaderless mobs fed on populous slogans and managed to reach her life time goal to occupy the office of Chief Minister. She is the most unreliable and unpredictable politician. She has climbed the crest and her fall from the crest is yet to be seen.
  • Manmohan Singh is a spineless living being to surprise medical fraternity. He is being used like earthworms used by foreigners to fish in India. He has the distinction of heading the most corrupt government in India. This political satellite was put in the orbit by Sonia Gandhi. As he has outlived awaiting to be replaced by her son as soon as he attained maturity.

All of them are the creations of the media. Their existence is known when they make some utterance or start some agitation; otherwise, no one cares about their whereabouts. They seldom adopt any scientific or democratic approach towards problem solving. In the name of social justice, all of them are living at tax payers cost. Countrymen need to evaluate their past profile and decide that: 

  • Do such people have the capability to make India stand in global competition?
  • Aren’t there other professionals to solve the country’s problems?
  • Why have we left resources of the country at their disposal to retard progress?
  •  Can’t we afford their exit from political scene for ever now?

One thing is certain – Our country will be better managed if at least it is disinfected of above politicians at the first available election opportunity.
